well its official... melinda is INSANE!! she gave me this old U2 mixed tape she made 10 years ago to listen to in the batmobile. today it was playing as i drove around with my windows down and tunes on full blast when i could hear the next song was taped off a record. i thought "that's strange. melinda doesn't have a U2 album on record". then i hear raffi singing "the more we get together, the happier we'll be". WHAT!!! WHAT???? WHAT?!?!?! this cracked me up so much my eyes were watering. and there i was, sitting in my car, beside a public bus, trying to seem as casual and normal as possible with raffi pouring from my open windows.
so tell me... what do you think of light jeans? i'm not sure where i stand on the issue. i bought a pair of silvers the other day on sale and at the time i didn't realize that they're light blue. yes, i know. you're probably wondering "how did you not notice that?" well let me explain... i don't know. it was on one of those days i was incredibly giddy. so apparently i'm going to plead insanity.
my stupid acid reflux is flaring up again. making me feel barfy all the time.
so i was talking to Patty at church today and mentioned that i was shy. it hit me, if you need to explain to someone "i'm shy" and it's not already obvious, are you ACTUALLY shy? well i know for a fact that i WAS shy, but i'm starting to wonder if i'm STILL shy. is shyness something you can overcome? i thought it was apart of me like my brown eyes. but more and more people are telling me "i didn't realize you were shy, you don't seem shy" maybe i've worked it out of my system. maybe it went away with age. aww, aging, what a wonderful thing ;)

ya i made that tape in like 1995.
ya so i was raised on a combo of raffi/WMHI/lawrence welk. what can i say? at least it wasn't all raffi. i really had no idea ten years ago that that tape would find it's way to yer car... or did i? ahaahahaaaaaa.
i for one am glad it wasn't all raffi.
or you'd have some mental problems.
lets not get into your juxtaposed upbringin.
hahaha, juxtaposed. that reminds me of college. my teacher chuck was obsessed with that word. we coined the phrase "chuckstapose"
all i was saying, is that raffi takes me back to that special dvbs/5 day club/awana place... my favourite is a peanut butter sandwich made with jam... (*sings*)
we weren't really into raffi. we were more sharon, lois and bram fans. our favourite some was "bananas ain't got no bones". even my mom loved that one.
one elephant went out to play....
and psalty?
oh ya, mustn't forget psalty. joelle's really into psalty now too. joy got all our old tapes from my mom's place.
oh and i did have the joshua tree on vinyl for a while.
but you don't now, or we'd listen to it on our record player
i think i might, but jade might have taken it back. you listen to the record player? ya righhht.
i'm offended by that. i'm a true child of the 80s. its not my fault you've never shown me how to work your grandmother's record player.
i am not derek satnik
never shown you? dude i can totally show you. i didn't realize you didn't know how.
melinda, don't over credit me in my ability in certain areas.
fix a toilet. no problem.
recaulk the tub. easy peasy
cook something from stratch. serious dilemia
use eileen's record player. no clue.
dude it's a piece of cake.
and even easier than blogging.
well i find blogging very difficult.
its one of my greatest challenges.
and yet one of my greatest joys.
hahaha. jk.
(oh by the way check out comment 48)
it amazes me how you can blog everyday and not know how to use that record player.
melinda i spend 40 hours a week on a computer at work. plus, who knows how many hours at home. but when was the last time i used a record player? my mom wouldn't let me touch ours when i was little because i had a knack for breaking things.
i remember once at church i decided to climb up the pulpit and it fell over on top of me. she dragged me out from underneath it saying "oh you're a little monkey".
so u are afraid of record players now?
no the pulpit fell on me, not the record player.
oh, my word, you two can have a very long drawn out blog comment conversation! It's cute. As for shy, I think you can outgrow a lot of it, and that some of it may always remain, at least in certain types of situations. Like being in a big group of people you don't know. Or dancing in the kitchen when people are watching.... lb.
hm. i was going to say, i have a u2 album on vinyl and was going to say maybe she taped it off of that ... but pparently not...
ya i had yer copy for a while way back in the day...
i think you're right laney. like, i was shy as a preteen. not shy as a teen. not shy in college. shy after college. even shyer after startek. but i think since i starting going to next i've really overcome my shyness. yay!
