i was utterly devastated. completely humiliated.
i finished my painting...
why clothes-pegs? i have no idea. it just popped into my mind and i couldn't shake it. i actually really like it's a simple inanimate object. i think it looks better in person.a couple weeks ago at storytellers, we had to write a poem about an inanimate object. rach wrote about clothes-pegs. i liked it a lot and found it very timely, so made the immediate decision that i would get a copy and write it on the back of my canvas when i finished. here's her poem, read it while you look at my painting (or maybe have someone read it to you so you can just focus on the painting)
little wooden clothespin
you are lovely to behold.
oh, that i could clasp you in my arms
as you clasp my drying dress upon the line
and feel, as surely that dress must,
your unfailing pinch in return.
your little metal spring, cool in my grip,
sends shivers of gratitude down my spine
for each moment you spend in humble service
to the greater good
of keeping my family clean and dry.

great painting, great poem.
you are so talented, my friend!
Absolutely lovely!
I am so impressed with you... but not surprised!
I love the painting!
And jut for the record: That poem was written in about 7 minutes and has not been revised or edited at all, so please be forgiving!
piujuq! beautiful!
since when do the random letters spell words? "meddled"
thanks girls! your super-kind words are very encouraging. i think they help bolster my confidence for more projects :)
onwards and upwards!
btw rach: i love that little poem. it's fantastic for a "quick and dirty". my favourite part is the bit about you wanting to clasp the clothes-pegs in your arms :p it's great.
no... actually, my real favourite part is about the important job of keeping your family clean and dry.
hey there, i haven't talked to you in ages. i like your painting. at first i thought it was a pair female legs in leg tights and shoes kinda randomly jamming something. we should hang out sometime soon.
i love that you thought it was lady legs because you'd TOTALLY paint that. i like that people see things from their own experiences.
ya, let's get together in december. what night is good for you??
