i hate being told what to do. if someone tells me to do something i immediately want to do the opposite. i'm extremely stubborn. joy used to say she didn't want to have kids who was stubborn like me because it drives her crazy. my mom quickly caught on to the fact that reverse pyschology works well on me. she'd be like "les, let in the dog" and when i said no, she'd say "ok, don't let in the dog". which really put me between a rock and a hard place because whatever i did it was what she wanted. argh!! so confusing!! see? stubborn.
here's a picture that i found in melinda's room. probably a lot of you know at least one or more person in it so i thought i'd share it with you. it was taken in 1997. i'm trying to remember what this was taken for. it was at our youth group banquet and i think we were all on the youth executive or something. except, i have a feeling ryan just snuck into the photo, because i don't remember there being 7 of us.top row: melinda richka, genevieve ostiguy (now villeneuve) and lesley mcknight. front row: jason lockerbie, ryan satnik, derek satnik and dan roud. who is it YOU know?

Lesley, just found you blog. Sarah told me about it not to long ago and i thought i'd check it out. That photo is awesome. Dan looks like a big nerd. Oh and i don't particularily feel all that related to Gen! But i guess it's partly because i haven't been home for almost 2 years so i don't really feel like i'm related to any of them. It's cool to see what's up in your life. I see that you already know about my blog cause you've got a link to it on your site. I hope you are doing well. I've got a lot of reading to do before i know what's up in your life. I just wanted to touch base.

Yeah Les, I know what you mean about having good intentions. I heard from the family that you'd started attending Next. Honestly, it was a little strange to think of you actually getting along with them. You seemed pretty scared of them like 8 years ago. It's amazing how things can change.
I figured i'd better just bite the bullet and comment on your blog. I think it's for the best. Kingston is a pretty amazingly small town. It's strange whenever i go back because for me it has changed a lot. But i don't really have anything there now, my family is all i've got left.
It's funny reading your blog. You've got some pretty funny stuff going on in your head. Lately i feel like i've lost all creativity. My life is completely embedded in my work and being on the ships. It's a little sad.

Really it's meant to be a good thing because i feel like i don't have much of interest or humor going on. Maybe I can live vicariously through you???
At church on Sunday, the Pastor played an Alanis Morrisette song. I think it's called "Perfect" or something like that. It's about parents expecting tons from their kids and only loving them if they are 'perfect'. She mentions the whole vicarious living thing. It's a strange concept, to live one's life through others.
Ohh and i think the changes are good. I know you're like totally different from 8 years ago. I'm not sure that i'm totally different, but i've definately matured in my own ways. It might have been a shock at first, but now i think it's cool.

i'm sure your experience with friendships has changed you more than you know! i like the pics you have on your blog, i'm like "wow! joel looks so grown-up!!" its neat. me, i still look somewhere in my early 20s.

Wow, what a flash back! Found this on the internet doing some crazy - what does your name mean/etc. search. Small world doesn't even begin to cover it when you're talking about Kingston. I couldn't believe it when I met Roland's family only to discover I had taken some classes with Paul (who was Roland's current roommate) at QECVI like 5 or 6 years earlier, who starts dating Sarah around the same time that Roland and I started dating who was related to Joel who used to date Les who used to sit beside Roland at Startek!! And of course there's the part where Sarah, Les et all go to Next church where my Step-Mother's sister and HER family attend ... it just goes on and on :)
I think Ryan was like the junior member representative or something?? It really doesn't even feel like the same lifetime :P
