doe

i'd like to talk a little bit about intimidation. i've been thinking about it a lot lately. where does it come from? what perpetuates it? is it something about the other person or is it caused by an existing insecurity? maybe it's a combination. i have this friend who i was incredibly intimidated by before i got to know her. we're very different in certain ways, and that's to our advantage. she's one of my biggest fans, as i am hers. i've been dwelling a lot on my personal weaknesses lately, things about me that i'm self-conscious of. they make me worry that i'll be searched and be found wanting. to the point that i've been questioning what i DO have to offer. but i've come to the conclusion that i am simply me, and THAT'S what i have to offer. sure there might be lots of other people out there with the qualities i have, but i'm the only one of my exact combination of ingredients. i'm unique and i mustn't forget that.

this afternoon carpooler paul and i went to frontenac park.

he kept wanting to climb a mountain but there aren't any in this neck of the woods, so i suggested frontenac park. i'd been wanting to go there all summer, so i was happy to have someone to go with. just to clarify.... for those of you following along at home.... it was not a date. i don't talk about dates in public forums. in fact... i rarely talk about guys i like by name on pspd. just wanted to set you straight in case you got all "wink, wink" "nudge, nudge" on me. anyways, it was a really beautiful day, which made for a nice hike.

alas, i don't suppose i made any impression what so ever. but that's better than a bad impression, so i can't complain.

as we live a life of ease,
every one of us is all we need.

are you disclaiming your life? (writing disclaimers) That's too bad.

what do you mean? yes, i suppose i did write a disclaimer that i don't talk about dates on pspd.

is that what you referring to?

No, I meant that you felt you had to say 'this is not a date'. If I went to frontenac park with a friend (and posted about it on my blog), I would not feel that I would have to explain that this is not a date. And so I felt bad that you feel that you had to. If that makes sense?

well... you're married. for a single girl like me, everyone just assumes/hopes that i'm romantically linked to any guy i'm spending time with. that's life, i'm used to it.

i was also taking the opportunity to tell people that i don't share all my personal details on my blog, even if it seems like i do.

that looks like such a beautiful day!! we got 2 inches of snow yesterday... i'm wearing my parka (the new one!) and boots.

For the record Lesley…you have TONS to offer! And don’t let anyone (yourself included) tell you otherwise!

And thank you for clarifying the whole date thing…I would have emailed you for details otherwise ;)

it took me a minute to remember where frontenac park was... but that photo brought me back - i hiked that trail with sheldon - one of our last pre-kid hikes together. so lovely.. and i think it'd be super great in the fall. and thanks for clarifying... i would've been wondering too.

I find I almost always feel intimidated by women who are taller than me. Is that nuts or what?

what colour is your new parka? i hope you get a lot of use out of it since this is going to be your last arctic winter. well... at least for a while.

aww, thanks gen :) you're super nice. i'm certain you weren't the only one who would've been asking. i often have people emailing me for uncensored details of my life :p but.... i'll email you about something else tho.

frontenac park is nice. it was a beautiful day for a hike. when you say pre-kids do you mean you were pregnant at the time of your hike?? that would've been tough.

well rach... it's a good thing i'm shorter than you :D even if it's only by like half an inch...

na, les... it was a slim moment in time when sheldon had just finished a month's worth of flight training in manitoba, i was working at kpmg in kingston, and we had about a week or so of time together before we headed off to our paris-amsterdam travel loop with one of our mutual best friends... colby was conceived not long after that trip.

but i did climb a mountain in jasper while i was pregnant with maya. and did a major woodsy-field of wheat-country sort of hike when i was pregnant with eliot. those were both kinda tough, but i sure am proud to be able to say i did them.

hmm... seems i'm somewhat uncensored. *grin* hugs to you.

hahaha. no need to use a censorship filter here.

very cool. congrats for your mountain climbing achievements. i climbed a mountain carrying only myself which was hard enough. more power to ya :D

well, to be completely honest, we took the cable car thingy part way up... and i didn't make it all the way to the summit. but i made it to my personal goal, and that was reward enough!
